Green Star deliver slalom success!

Green Star Canoe Club hosted their first slalom at the club’s new lake on May 27 th /28 th 2023. Also coinciding with Green Star’s 30th year paddling!
A huge fundraising effort preceded the event, supported by members, the paddling community and beyond. The generous contributions enabled a new slalom course and the necessary resources to run a fabulous weekend and competition.

Green Star delivered the highest attended div. 4 slalom this season. No mean feat with div. 4 slaloms having lower than historical numbers at the time.
There were 62 paddlers across the 2 days and 4 promotions to div. 3 resulted.
Between the raffle, supported by kind donations, the cafe, and paddling fees, the event secured a healthy return to help continue our delivery of paddlesports coaching for all.

At the div. 4/open Slalom event the fun flowed under the sun for leisure/ training and racing was aided by a cooler finale and fantastic food.
Green Star Canoe Club hope all who came enjoyed the days and and thank each member and volunteer for their contribution and for pulling together to ensure it’s success.

Thank you also to Doncaster, it’s surrounding community and the paddlesports community for support. It was superb to see such a turn out and greet many new faces.
Thanks for raffle contributions go to: Desperate Measures, Peak UK, Bawtry Paintball Fields, Robin Hood Watersports, Yorkshire Wildlife Park (via Coun. Jane Cox), Tesco, Co-Op, The Pink Flamingo Dessert Bar & Deli, Glasbeys butchers and Nostell Plaice chip shop.

Mark our next slalom event in October in your diary!….Green Star Canoe Club very much look forward to seeing you.
